Email Template question.
Question asked by chris white - 10/31/2014 at 4:48 PM
Answered
Hi,
I am a designer/ developer for a company that uses SmarterMail. What they require is email templates that mimic the stationary that I have designed.
Can I use the free version of SmarterMail to create the templates and export them for my client to import, or do I have to have access to their SmarterMail setup?

Thanks

Currently, SmarterMail does not support mailing list templates.

While there is no longer template support, is there a simple explanation as to how one might be able to add data from the fields we can enter for each subscriber?

For instance, if I have a first name and last name field, how can I have the outgoing list email indicate something as simple as:

Dear [first name] [last name],

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your response - it certainly IS in the help at https://help.smartertools.com/SmarterMail/current

Finding it was the issue. It is buried in:

Help Topics > Help for System Administrators > Settings > Domain Settings > Mailing Lists > Mailing List Overview
(which addresses the syntax of Variables that can be used)

and

Help Topics > Help for System Administrators > Settings > Domain Settings > Mailing Lists > Custom Fields
(which addresses the syntax of Custom Fields that can be used)

Based on this, it seems any email could be used as a template, so to speak, for a mailing.
