Blank Emails (again)
Problem reported by stuart collier - 9/30/2014 at 1:09 AM

Anyone else experiencing blank emails in the Inbox after renaming/moving/deleting subfolders from within Thunderbird?

To recreate :-

Create a subfolder of the inbox - call it  TEST
Rename TEST to TEST1
Send an email to yourself
- email is not delivered
Restart Thunderbird
Email delivered either blank or corrupt.

Im finding this is if you rename, delete or create sub folder inside the inbox

..... just tried it on another folder (other than the INBOX) and there is no error...

Simple solution would be to manage folder within the webmail.

What do the thunderbird logs say about it?

Not really a solution is it? :)
How can you stop users from creating/editing folders?

Ive done some more investigating.

If I keep thunderbird open and goto the web portal.

Create a folder inside the INBOX,
send an email to myself, then delete the folder (folder contains no emails)
Thunderbird receives no notifications.
Restarting thunderbird and the email shows blank in the *web portal* and in thunderbird.

It seems that proves it is Thunderbird corrupting the message... So maybe there's problem in Thunderbird?

What version of thunderbird and smartermail are you using?

I thought that at first - but Thunderbird isnt doing any of the folder moving or renaming ?  Its just waiting for new emails ? - Im at a loss on how thunderbird corrupts the email when it hasnt received it yet.

Thunderbird 31.1.2
Sm 11.7

I just finished installing Thunderbird and letting it sync my gigs of emails via IMAP. I then performed your test and I do not see your behaviour at all

Please check to make sure your antivirus is set to excluded the spool and domain folders. Seems like something is locking the file.

There is no antivirus on the SM machine.

Ive tested it on 3 machines - 2 on the LAN one on WAN.  Same on all so its not account specific / machine specific.  Only thing they have in common is SM.

Seems like something your would need to open a support ticket to fix...

Finally found proof and took a video for support !!!!

We are now on 12.4 and the same behaviour exists. Hopefully they can at least recreate it now !

The key to the test is that you must have at least 1 unread message in your inbox. ^^^^ then do as I stated above.

Also found with 12.4 that if you do edit or add a new folder in Thunderbird you will receive no new emails at all until thunderbird is restarted...
