Printing Corruption on via Webmail (HTML emails)
Problem reported by Aftab Hussain - 4/29/2015 at 4:25 AM
Submitted
SmarterMail version: 13.2.5511
Tested on Chrome version 42.0.2311.90 m
and Firefox version 37.0.2

When printing some html emails the normal view of the email is fine, but the print preview is corrupted / not rendered correctly. You can see the issue in this image: imgur.com/m1TgkkC

On the right is the correct view of the email and on the left is the corrupted print preview. This has also been tested in Gmail (Firefox) and via Outlook and the same email prints out fine.

The most recent release of SmarterMail 13.X is 13.4.5603, which is three releases newer than the version you are currently running.

I would do three things:

  1. Clear your browser's caches - to ensure that there is no garbage in the cache which might be inserted in the document print function;
  2. Make certain you are on the most recent releases of Chrome and Firefox;
  3. Upgrade your installed version of SmarterMail from 13.2.5511 to SmarterMail 13.4.5603

If those suggestions don't help, then you might also try doing a complete uninstall, reboot, and reinstall of your SmarterMail software.

While rare, upgrades can sometimes allow locked files to remain in place and those older file versions can cause some of the biggest troubleshooting headaches.

Good luck, and please keep us posted as to your progress and outcome.

I'll update to the latest version to see if that helps.

Cache won't be an issue as a customer initially had the issue and I checked on my machine with the same results.
Chrome is update to date, Firefox probably isn't as I only use it to test if something is broken so will update.

Removing and reinstalling SmarterMail, what are the consequences of doing so, I inherited the SmarterMail setup along with a Helm automation cluster, so I'm not sure I'm going to be able to uninstall and reinstall without breaking things. I will keep it in mind though.

Uninstalling and reinstalling does not touch the setup files at all. However no need to do that, you should uninstall, reboot and then install the latest version

Is this also required to update to the latest version? Your comment implies that, but making sure.

Yes it's best practice to ensure all files are not locked.
