Can't view multiple forwarded e-mails
Problem reported by Michael Lewis - 4/3/2015 at 8:08 AM

Don't know if this is a bug or just an oddity. If you forward a single message there are no problems.

If you select multiple emails and forward, the files are attached as .EML files. But how does the user, who ONLY uses the web interface read the mail?

It currently ask you to open in an application of your choice or save the document. Ok, I have Outlook 2013 but it returns with an error that the file can't be read.

How does one read multiple forwarded mail from SM?

Using SM ENT Version 13.3.5535

Michael, in web mail in the attachments tab of the forwarded emails, you should see a message icon next to the message link.  Clicking on the icon opens the eml message in a new window.  Clicking on the link will ask the user to download and/or open in an external program.  I hope this helps.

Robert,

Yes, I see that; I was hoping for some other solution as a regualr "every-day" user wouldn't know what to do with that...

And even so, trying to open in Outlook throws and error, is there a light-weight app that users are using to view .eml files by default when using the web portal?

Are there any plans to integrate a viewer so the normal user doesn't have to jump through hoops to view forwards?

Thanks.

Michael, we currently do not have any plans to integrate a viewer for eml attachments.  However, I will add this to our feature request list, since we already have the underlying structures in place.  In the mean time, I recommend "training" your clients to click on the icon for web mail viewing and the link for external app use.

Also, I was able to open the downloaded EMLs in Outlook 2013, eM Client, and Thunderbird without any errors.

Thanks Robert; that will definitely work for a majority of our users.
