Noticable SPAM increase
Problem reported by Mike Wiegers - 8/22/2014 at 2:50 PM

Over the last week or so we are experiencing more SPAM that is not being caught. We are running CYREN  Premium Antispam and the recommended SPAM settings from the Knowledge Base. How do I tell if I have the current file/database that CYREN uses and how do I send SPAM emails that are not caught with CYREN?

Thanks,
Mike

I would recommend taking a look at the headers of the emails that come though and what spam check were ran in the delivery logs.  Some spammers will use SPF and PTR records to get past some spam check.  If you need additional help I would recommend opening up a support ticket so we can take a further look into the issue.

I have looked at the headers. Again, I'm relying on CYREN to catch the majority of mail that is slipping through. These will show as:

Commtouch 0 [value: Unknown]

This is what will also show in a good message. Is there a way that I can tell I'm using the latest data the CYREN uses?

Brian,
My delivery.log files are full of these (at least on today's logs). Do you want me to start a ticket or is there something I can look at?

What in the header is associated with the delivery log? What text in the header will show me the section in the delivery.log file.

I didn't have detailed turn on for the delivery log files. I can now find the information.

When a user marks a message as SPAM from their Inbox from the web interface does it send that information back to CYREN?

Same here, seeing a lot of messages getting through as spam that Cyren fails to catch with the status as Commtouch 0 [value: Unknown]
