Administrator ability to add Auto Responder for domain users without impersonating them
Idea shared by Mark DeLore - 2/25/2015 at 6:07 PM
Proposed
Having the ability to create auto responder for all users from one Administrator dashboard would be very beneficial.  I'm a stickler about our Auto Responders being professional looking and the end users struggle.

A centralized list of active auto responders would be a great help.

Being able to schedule more than one would be awesome but I'm guessing that'd be asking too much.

I'm also curious as to why one must "Impersonate" to do this. We can change Forwarding, but not other things such as the auto-responder. But at least we CAN Impersonate and do these things.

Edit the user via the domain edit and you don't have to impersonate them.

Can you explain that more, because I am unable to find this option.

The forwarding settings, for any user, can be changed by either the SmarterMail admin or the domain admin once they are logged in.

If you are a SmarterMail admin, you need to MANAGE the domain.

If you are a domain admin, then you need to go to the user edit area and edit the individual user.

Unless forwarding has been completely disabled, for the entire domain, If you cannot access the user's FORWARD tab during a user edit, then there is something wrong with your SmarterMail installation.

Hey Bruce,
I think they are referring to access to the Auto-Responder, which isn't available in Domain User Edit. Forwarding is there all right.

In any event, thanks for all your assistance in general on this site. -PB

You are correct, I confused the auto-responder and forwarder in my response.

To modify the auto-responder you must impersonate the user.
