Why is my SMTP banner showing as all asterisks?

In previous installations of SmarterMail, the SMTP banner would reflect the HostName under Settings > General Settings > Server Info > HostName.  Now it shows up as all asterisks when I connect to it.  I have also attempted to affect it directly by changing it under Settings > Protocol Settings > SMTP In > HostName and this had no affect.  I did reboot the server between the settings changes just to make sure that wasn't the issue.
 
Any help would be much appreciated.

Nevermind, I found the problem.  Apparently there are some firewalls out there (Cisco for sure) that have a setting to inspect SMTP packets and it sets the banner to asterisks when it does.
