Smartermail calendar wiped after upgrade to SM13

We recently upgraded to Smartermail 13 but a user has noted to have their calendar wiped clean after the install, is there anyway to retrieve the calendars ?
 
Also there are emails visible in the web browser up till now but the imap client is not seeing them passed the update date, is there a reason why this would happen?

What version of SmarterMail did you upgrade from and when you did the upgrade did you install on top of or uninstall the old version and install the new?

Hi Brian, I uninstalled version 7 and installed version 13 with .net updates in-between the uninstall and install of the latest version as instructed.

Hi Alan,  For the calendars issue if you open up the xml file do you see data or just it look like a blank file?  Also do you have any backups?  For the email clients have you tried closing it and then re-opening it?  If so try deleting the IMAP profile and then reconnect it.

Ok so i had a look at backups from before move, at 6 Jan, the XML file and backup version are there with 1015 kb in size and on the live machine the file is only 20kb (Was informed that they had to manually input known appointments after it stopped as a temporary measure)
 
Is it possible to manually copy and merge these files or could that cause some sort of issue?
Any ideas why it might have been over written with a blank file ? I have no other users using their calender to properly troubleshoot.
 
As for imap client has been opened and closed several times with no change, moving folders back to inbox allowed the mails to sync in the main inbox folder but the sub folders are not syncing correctly and non sequentially random mails not syncing to client. Can't delete as previous mail server issue resulted in two months of lost data and messages on client are essential but attempting to create a second client account for fresh sync.
