"Change Bouncing to Require SPF"

Hi,

I've had an issue this morning where a spoofed sender send a lot of email to a number of different domains on our server, this caused a large volume of bouncebacks to be sent to the spoofed sender resulting in the server being blacklisted by a few RBL providers.

The server is SmarterMail Enterprise 13.1, and after a search for information on restricting the overall bouncebacks the server sends (if possible, to a single address), I found this article:
http://help.smartertools.com/SmarterMail/v13/Default.aspx?qq=%2fSmarterMail%2fv13%2fTopics%2fSystemAdmin%2fMisc%2fSecurityLockdown.aspx

I'd ideally like to change "Bouncing" to "Require SPF", however when logging in as the admin account and going to "Settings" -> "General Settings" I cannot find a "Security" tab.

I've tried looking around the "Security" area, but couldn't find anything similar to requiring SPF on bounces - is this function still available in SmarterMail 13? Or is there a way I could prevent bounces being sent to a spoofed mail account?

Hi Phil,

You are probably logged in as a domain admin and not the system admin account.  The system admin account does not have an email address.  If you do not know the system admin account you can rest it by following this knowledge base article: http://portal.smartertools.com/kb/a2739/reset-administrator-username-and-password.aspx

Once you login as the system admin you will find the security option as its own section.

Hi Brian, I'm logged in as the "admin" user, and I can see the "Security" section on the left, below the "Settings" icon. However I can't find reference for Bouncing to Require SPF anywhere in that section. (Note the knowledgebase article says it's "Settings" -> "General Settings" -> "Security" tab, which doesn't exist I find) Hope this clears it up a little.

Phil, try Security | Antispam Administration | Options. You should see the Auto-Responders and Bouncing settings there. We will update the help page accordingly.

Phil,

Where you able to see the Security tab and the setting you need to change?
