Content Filtering Being Ignored?
Problem reported by Joe Dellaragione - 7/26/2018 at 12:13 PM
Not A Problem
I am on SM 16.3.6754 and I have the following set up in Domain Admin > Domain Settings > Content Filtering ..

The first rule I have listed says "Auto Delete" and I have it set up as follows:

Order: 1
Match Type: All
Condition: From Specific Domains
Action: Delete Message

Under "From specific domains" I have domains listed one per line for example:

abc.com
123.com

However users are still receiving emails from these domains.

Any ideas?

Hi Joe,

Are there any details showing in your Delivery logs for the messages that are getting through? I tested this on 16.3.6775, and I'm not able to replicate. The message never reached my inbox, and the Delivery logs show:

[2018.07.26] 14:49:28 [85162] Delivery started for [user]@smartertools.com at 2:49:28 PM
[2018.07.26] 14:49:34 [85162] Delivery for [user]@smartertools.com to admin@[domain].com has completed (Deleted) Filter: Blocked Domains
[2018.07.26] 14:49:37 [85162] Delivery finished for [user]@smartertools.com at 2:49:37 PM [id:7285162]

Could you try an upgrade to the latest public release and see if this resolves the issue?

You know what, it does show deleted in the message log. But I was seeing these messages in the Message Archiving. So it looks like it hits message archiving before it hits content filtering and they are actually NOT getting them? The person who reported it could be mistaken or talking about another address.

Hi Joe. That's correct. The message will still be accessible in Message Archive; it just won't hit the user's mailbox. As far as I'm aware, it shouldn't be in their Deleted Items folder either. It should completely miss their mailbox.
