System administrators can set hard limits on how many messages can be sent from a domain. Once the limit is reached, SmarterMail will automatically take the action specified in the message throttling action.

Applies to SmarterMail 9.x - 15.x

  1. Log into SmarterMail as the system administrator.
  2. Click the Domains icon.
  3. Select the desired domain in the navigation pane.
  4. Click Edit in the content pane toolbar. The domain settings will load in a new window.
  5. Click the Throttling tab.
  6. In the Outgoing Messages per Hour field, type the number of messages that can be sent from the domain within an hour timeframe.
  7. In the Message Throttling Action field, select the appropriate action that SmarterMail should take when the outgoing messages limit is reached.
  8. Click Save.

Applies to SmarterMail 8.x

  1. Log into SmarterMail as the system administrator.
  2. Click the Manage icon.
  3. Click All Domains in the navigation pane. A list of domains on the server will load in the content pane.
  4. Select the desired domain and click Edit in the content pane toolbar. The domain settings will load in a new window.
  5. Click the Throttling tab.
  6. In the Outgoing Messages per Hour field, type the number of messages that can be sent from the domain within an hour timeframe.
  7. In the Message Throttling Action field, select the appropriate action that SmarterMail should take when the outgong messages limit is reached.
  8. Click Save.
