DotNetPanel and SmarterMail Default Web Server

SmarterMail is packaged with a default Web server that is provided for testing and configuration purposes. It is not recommended to use the default Web server for a production environment. Instead, SmarterTools recommends using IIS in conjunction with these products.

However, if you are running DotNetPanel, you will need to create a website in IIS before disabling the default Web server. Once you have created the website in IIS, you will need to configure DotNetPanel to reference the IIS site.

Applies to SmarterMail 8.x - 15.x

Reference your IIS site by following these steps:

1. In DotNetPanel, go to Server.
2. Click Mail.
3. Find the line that lists the SmarterMail Web Services URL. By default, the URL is http://127.0.0.1:9998/service.
4. Edit the line to be http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX/services (where XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX is the IP of the SmarterMail IIS website.)

NOTE: You will need to reconfigure DotNetPanel to access the above IIS websites before disabling the default web servers.
