Activate Exchange Web Services

NOTE: As of November 1, 2019, SmarterTools no longer accepts activation requests that use TLS 1.0 and 1.1. Therefore, older installations of SmarterMail (SmarterMail 14.1 and older) may not activate properly as they do not support TLS 1.2 and higher. For more information, please contact our Sales Department.

Microsoft Exchange Web Services is available as an optional add-on to SmarterMail and is associated to a specific SmarterMail license key at the time of purchase. Once you have purchased this add-on, you will need to reactivate your SmarterMail license key.

NOTE: For mailboxes that will process and store large volumes of email, it is recommended that they be set up to connect to SmarterMail using IMAP as EWS performance suffers when processing large volumes of email.

Follow these steps to reactivate SmarterMail:

Applies to SmarterMail Enterprise 7.x-15.x

  1. Log in to SmarterMail as the system administrator.
  2. Click the Settings icon.
  3. Expand the Activation folder in the navigation pane.
  4. Click Licensing in the navigation pane. Licensing information will load in the content pane.
  5. Click Reactivate in the content pane toolbar.
