I'm currently using SmarterMail on Windows 2022. What are the benefits of upgrading to Windows 2025?
Aside from simply having the latest version of Windows, of course... which doesn't always equate to "benefits" in itself...

I'm planning to do an in-place upgrade—is that a good idea?
NOTE: I've done this for previous upgrades without any issues...

So, the final question: is it worth it?

I think the future is bright for Linux. I am switching more and more applications to Linux.

I am planning on moving my SmarterMail, for my customers, over to Linux instead of 2025. I've been slowly learning Linux and after a while its GOOD! Plus you can add as many CPUs and RAM as you want or need without the licensing fee rigmarole
.
Just my take...
Ok, I agree on that, but is OT. I'm asking on Windows 2025.

So far, notta. Just a version bump to cure the OCD of those who need to see 2025 instead of 2022. Unless you are Azure Arc connected and can use Hotpatching. When we moved, there was nothing noticeable that changed. No performance differences, everything ran exactly the same.

I switched to Windows Server 2025 more out of opportunism than anything else.
I needed to migrate SM to another cloud provider, and since I was coming from 2019, it didn't make sense to install 2022.
I installed 2025 directly.

I haven't noticed any major changes.

We have migrated several servers from 2022 to 2025. No noticeable differences over here.

I have server 2025 has a hyperv host and run Linux as a VM. I chose to get off the CAL treadmill. Not had a single issue with this setup and the exports for testing are easier to manage
