Edit or modify the email signature when composing a new message

Hello,

I would like to ask whether it is possible, in the Webmail interface, to allow users to edit or modify the email signature directly when composing a new message or replying to an existing one, essentially within the message body itself.

Currently, when one of the predefined signatures is selected, it cannot be edited, nor is it possible to type beneath it within the message composition window.

Thank you

Mark

Hey, Mark

Signatures are generally managed at the domain level, which is why you can't edit them. You can add your own signatures, however, so if you have to change a Job Title, or Phone Number you can create different signatures for different requirements. You can also choose No Signature and just add your own, as needed. But yeah: signature boxes, since they're defined elsewhere in the domain and user settings, aren't able to be edited.

Hello Derek,

Thanks for the explanation,
but would it be possible to allow writing/editing under the signature even if it can't be changed?

Mark

Yes, it is possible to write below the signature, but is a few extra steps as currently designed.
To write under the signature, switch to "code view",  Scroll down past your signature, add 2 periods after the last DIV as plain text, not in another DIV, then switch back to regular HTML view.
now you can replace those 2 periods with whatever text you want to type.

Derek, It would be nice if Smarter Mail did insert 1 blank regular line after the signature for this type of purpose. I also noticed that in replies, If i did not have the 2 extra periods there, there is no way to select the signature for deletion as it seems to treat it as part of a block of the next email or something. Sort of strange / cumbersome to try to delete just the signature if I have a long chain of back and forth responses if those 2 dots (an extra line) is not present after my block of signature.

Derek, you know what else would be nice ?
A corporate level signature, in addition to personal signature, both on an email. So corporate stuff could be defined for every account and then individual stuff could be added under it to personalize that account (extensions, email address, fax number, special instructions, etc)
