SpamFoo dashboard

Resolved
After klick on the Spamfoo Dashoboard I got a new browser tab with the answer: SpamFoo dashboard is unvailable.

Yeah, same issue. The biggest problem is that, in this state, the server will bounce all your mail as undeliverable. If you go to Troubleshooting/services, you see that the stupid foo service hasn't started. Try starting it, I had to reboot the box to get it to start.

I'm a little pissed they are forcing us to test their beta crap on our production mail servers!

It needs an off switch! or better still, an opt-out!
Agree!

I gave up! No mail getting through, everything you send to the server bounces back... And there doesn't appear to be a way to roll back to the previous version; it won't let you.

<*****@*****.***>: host mail.*****.***[1***.***.***.***] said: 554 Sending
address not accepted due to spam filter (in reply to MAIL FROM command)

And that was sent to a Proton-established address.

No matter what I do, I cannot keep the stupid SpamFoo service running, and that, in turn, is killing LDAP and XMPP.

I have rolled the server back to last night's backup after backing up mail folders.

I won't be going anywhere near another upgrade until they make SpamPoo optional and disableable, don't need to be wasting a whole day messing with BETA crud I didn't want. That'll teach me for thinking that being a BETA it would be something you have to authorise before you get stuck with it.

Cracking job SmrterTools, that has blown 12 years of confidence in your work!
This build should be pulled asap!

Yeah, defo a bum release, very unusual for Smartertools, but fortunately I am a backup aholic and rebuilding the box to last night's backup, then restoring mailobox data with a backup before the roll-back seems to have fixed the issue, and my mailbox has just filled up with messages from angry customers :-(

Best advice on this build - TREAT IT LIKE COVID - STAY AT LEAST 2MILES AWAY :-) At least on production gear.

I'll take another look when SpanPoo is optional. Right now, at least on my build, it stinks.

Don't they usually warns in the changelog if rollback is not possible ?

Thanks guys for the reports. I dodged a bullet, because I was about to upgrade our prod rig this weekend, for some bug fixes we were waiting for...

Dodged as well.... thanks for the quick feedback.

Usually, but I reread the email and saw nothing about a rollback, so I probably would have hesitated for a few days myself.

Please note that we have identified the bug and will be posting a hotfix shortly. It is NOT related to SpamFoo.
It is SMTP blocking related. Turning it off would be best for now.

Thanks for the update.

I think I will skip it and wait until public BETA testing is complete, but I would still like to see an off switch for BETA features in licensed software; it should be opt-in. I'm not happy about being forced to test stuff for you on my production boxes if I want to keep them secure.
Build has been pulled.

From what I understand and noticed, if you do not turn on SpamFoo in the AntiSpam -> Spam Checks it won't be on, the SpamFoo Dashboard will be disabled.

It was set to disable by default, under options you could disable "Send classification and spam corrections to Spamfoo and Rspamd (If you do not use Rspamd) too.

But if you do not want to see anything of SpamFoo listed, that is understandable, but I don't think SmarterTools has finished writing the disable code yet.

But Yes, if they do have the disable written, then a simple Toggle on the License to enable or disable the Beta would be acceptable.

But the SPF/Null Sender bug is not due to SpamFoo.

I also noticed my Routing Rule "From Address" is now broken, hopefully that is due to the SPF/Null Sender bug.

It seems to work:

BUT I cannot find where SpamFoo dashboard is, can you guide me?

It's down the bottom of the settings side menu. It took me a moment too.

same here, dashboard is unavailable (and reports all Messages are of type "Primary", no spam, no transactions, nothing, just all primary) (build 9673)

We're investigating an issue with spamfoo not booting up correctly in some environments. Stay tuned, this may very likely be the cause as to why some users are having issues with the dashboard (it requires the client to be running).

There is a newer update of the client available.

To have SM pull this newer version you can stop SM, then remove/rename the ./SpamFoo/ folder next to the MailService.exe binary then restart SmarterMail. (program files on windows, /opt/smartermail on linux)

A newer version of the client will be pulled down as long as you have either spam checking or classification turned on, give it 2-4 minutes to pull down and initialize, then check out the dashboard.

Only those having this issue needs to do this manual step.

Hi Matt... I completely crashed my server with 100% CPU usage by MAILSERVER.EXE.

I had to stop it, swap the folders, and then restart...

EDIT:

Tried a second time: now it works (setting the score to 5 for now for fear of false positives...)
