Alias Domain Question - for DNS/DKIM rules...
Problem reported by Merle Wait - Today at 8:47 AM
Not A Problem
If I have domain.com ... and a "alias.com" .. (which an alias of the domain.com).
Should the alias.com .. have all the settings / dkim/spf as does the domain.com (as far as email goes) ...
I would think so, but have just been challenged by an auditor.. so am now asking the "experts"
Thanks

Yes, a domain alias uses the same underlying domain configuration as the primary domain. Because a domain simply acts as a pointer to your primary domain within SmarterMail, settings such as domain-level settings and spam configurations are shared.

That being said, from a DNS perspective a domain alias is treated as a separate domain name. Thus, the appropriate DNS records do need to be made for that domain alias, but that would be done outside of SmarterMail.
