Deleting a SPAM Calendar Booking sends a Decline
Idea shared by Brantz - 3/30/2026 at 8:52 AM
Under Consideration
I'm getting a lot of spam calendar invites and when I delete them in my calendar using the SM Web UI, it sends a decline to the sender, which confirms my existence and valid email address to the spammer. I think the desired behaviour is for a deleted calendar entry to just be deleted, with no "decline" sent. "Decline" is already an option for the calendar entry, and in that case it obviously should send a response to the sender. Hopefully this can be fixed in a future version. Thanks.

I see this when deleting an appointment when no reply is sent to the invitation. We're sending a DECLINE notice. I think this may have to do with un-replied to appointments being marked as tentative in the calendar, just as appointments you reply to with a Tentative status are marked. However, I'm not sure. I've submitted this as a feature request.

Out of curiosity, what happens if you simply delete the meeting invite from your Spam folder, without doing anything to the calendar entry? In my test, the calendar entry went away, so I'm curious if the Spam folder item does the same.

Thanks Derek - I will need to wait for another one to come to test, but the messages were not being picked up as spam and going into my regular inbox. I appreciate you submitting this as a feature request.
So I got another one and again, it went to my inbox, not spam. When I deleted the message the calendar entry disappeared and there was no decline sent to the sender, so I guess this only happens when you delete the calendar entry as opposed to decline it. Hope this helps.
