2FA or App Password for Online Meetings
Problem reported by Mathieu Peloquin - 2/10/2026 at 4:16 PM
Resolved
The goal is to integrate Online Meetings generation from a client application like eM Client.  I have forwarded the information to eM Client also since SmarterMail is already integrated in many ways with eM Client but this feature could be added to any other app probably.
Basically, right now, I can use eM Client to generate meetings in Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, etc. even with 2FA enabled but it doesn't work with SmarterMail.
Not sure which is the right approach but anything that works would be greatly appreciated.  The end goal is to have 2FA enabled on a SmarterMail account and still be able to generate SmarterMail Online Meetings from a client application (instead of the web portal) which would make it much more convenient and professional when seelling the stack (app + smartermail service).
Not sure if the right approach is another app password for Online Meetings or if 2FA should work like other providers (opening a window to login to smartermail and approve the app) but as long as it work, it would be very appreciated.
Thanks for reviewing this suggestion!
Mathieu.

It looks like there is an issue with online meeting integrations in eM Client when your account has 2FA configured. We are in communication with eM Client to work out a fix.

Great, thanks Andrew for that reply!  :)  That will make a world of difference when selling the solution that these two work together properly with 2FA.

Hello Andrew,

Yes, sorry, personal situation I had to handle over the last few days but they sent me a version with the fix and I confirmed to them it was working fine.

I have asked them a few questions regarding security as it worked, on a 2FA enabled account, without needing an external sign-in (like Zoom or Google Meet).  Was wondering what is the security behind it.  But happy it is resolved and will be pushed for general availability soon.

Thanks!
