MacMail won't connect to Smartermail

Client has a new mac and is setting up his email we tried connecting as IMAP and the Exchange options and each time the response on screen was, "Unable to Verify Account Name or Password".   We verified the creds in webmail without any issue.  I can see in the user connections on the mail server connections coming in to the server. 
No joy what-so-ever tried IMAP ports 143 and 993 every entry was the same response.

Did it work before they moved to the new Mac? You can try checking the IMAP and EWS logs for this user and see what the logs tell you. It's a bit odd that neither connection type works.

Hi Derek,

I cannot be 100% sure that it worked before this Mac, but I have other Mac users that connect no issue with IMAP.  I checked the IMAP no log data since Friday but I reset the log to normal so will ask him to try again.  I note that the EWS log is empty no data what-so-ever returned in that log from smartermail admin view.  I see in the Imap log that the client connected from his phone multiple times today but not the Mac book. 

Just seems weird.
