Anyone using Securiteinfo additional signatures with Clam?
Problem reported by Heimir Eidskrem - 9/17/2025 at 10:08 AM
Resolved
I added the different download URLS to the freshclam.conf file but they seems to disappear.  I assume the file is overwritten, any idea how to prevent that.

I confirm that it's doing the same thing to me.
On SmarterMail Enterprise version 100.0.9168.31407 (Feb 6, 2025)
Every time I restart the SmarterMail service, the freshclam file is restored to the original version :-(

Hello everyone,

I can confirm that every time SM reboots, freshclam.conf loses the additional signatures.

I already reported this issue some time ago, but it seems it hasn't been fixed yet (build 9378).

Is there anything new?
Has it been fixed in the latest versions?

Hello,
additional signatures disappear on every reboot,
...so not yet (Build 9434)

I'll have someone test this. If we can replicate it, we'll get a fix in place.

EDIT: Confirmed and escalated.

This has been addressed. After the first time we create the file we'll only override specific properties such as the properties related to folder paths and connection settings. All other custom options or modified options won't be overridden unless we need to in the future we have a mechanism to update particular settings. This applies to both clamd and freshclam.

Just wanted to confirm this: the fix has passed through our testing and will be in this week's release. We tested on restarts and upgrades, and signatures persist through both.

I see the new release that fixes this issue hasn't been released yet...
Is it scheduled for today or has it been moved to next week?

Sorry, I should have revised my reply: the fix is in, but we're holding the release until next week to get a couple more issues resolved.

We are using securite custom signatures and we are happy with what it is doing. There are some false positives that we check and release time to time from quarantine. Those signature are even helpful in finding spam patterns that are skipped by SpamAssassin.
