How to open attachment directly

When using smatermail in chrome that has attachment, it always goes to the default chrome download location.  Smartermail doesn't ask what I want to do, it just brings up the download dialog box.

Is there a way if the attachment is a gif, jpeg, pdf to have the file just open using the default Windows application for the file type?

Thanks
In Chrome under settings -> Disable ask everytime where the file should be saved.

That just automatically puts the file in the downloads directory.  I was looking to have the file open in the default application

Hello,

Currently, there is no way to adjust the download location.

Have never ever wanted to adjust the download location.  Don’t even want to download a physical file.  I would like to have the browser  recognize that in the response header that a file type was requested.  After that send have the browser send the  bitstream to the os.  The os would then recognize that a file type of pdf was sent and sends the stream to acrobat.

I think it’s been done like that since Netscape   Don’t know why we can’t do it any more

Hi Brian,

Thank you for your question. While SmarterMail doesnt control that aspect it is possible to preview attachments using OnlyOffice or Collabora.

I hope this helps.

Kind Regards,
