Looking for Expert IP Config / Routing Advice

Hi Everybody,

We have been using SmarterMail since 2009 and Love it!

We are upgrading our email server this month, and am getting an additional 10 IP Addresses to use for the email server.  Currently, we have 4 IP Addresses on the email server, but really only use ONE (for everything).

Here is our question - and here is the current network config:

We have 2 servers, 1 email and 1 web.  The web server has approximately 300 active websites and about 50 IP addresses that we assign at random. 95% of the email being sent FROM those 300 websites are just Contact Forms being filled out by consumers - very low volume and ZERO spam, and those emails are getting auto-forwarded to our own clients (lead generation service from consumer web forms).

A Small number of our clients actually send email FROM their Website domain via the SmarterMail server using a client like Outlook from their own PC's.

We have noticed that our clients that use Gmail sometimes receive our auto-forwarded emails to the SPAM boxes, some after receiving these exact emails for 10 years straight...

We were thinking of dedicating IP addresses for specific functions/domains to keep the inbound and outbound as CLEAN as possible.

We were thinking our changing the SINGLE FIXED IP outbound address in SETTINGS>>PROTOCOL to "Domain IP"  ??

Then we could make sure all emails generated INTERNALLY from OUR COMPANY go out a specific IP, emails sent to our company come in through a specific IP, and maybe have a small pool of IP addresses for our customers that their outbound emails only go through???

Does anyone have any good advice on how to set this up to be the most reliable delivery system and something less prone to problems by outside users versus our internal users? And of course keep Gmail happy so they stop putting emails in the SPAM folders of our clients.

Also, when we add these 10 NEW IP addresses to the server, will emails from those NEW IP addresses initially go to spam folders?  Is there a way to mitigate this?

We are looking for a dream setup by the experts in here that know all the ins and outs of mail delivery and SmarterMail in general, and, since we will have a new server offline for 30 days to play with, we think it would be a great time to set up and TEST a dream config before the switchover on July 1st!!!

Appreciate ANY advice you guys have!!!

Thank you :)

Ensure that every message passes SPF and DMARC when it leaves your servers.    That means that clients  need a domain on your SmarterMail server.   If you cannot do that, then they need to send from client@yourdomain, with a friendly name of the text they want clients to see, and reply-yo for their domain instead of yours.

Having multiple IP addresses is no substitute for having email that verifies.
