Is EAS still a valid solution to use for mobile synchronization?

Hello,

I have a question about the EAS protocol: is it still a valid solution to use (and pay for licenses)?

I read that Microsoft is discontinuing EAS,
but why is it still present in the official configurations of mobile devices, especially Apple (Microsoft Exchange)?

This was very convenient because with a single configuration a single account was created with all the required features (mail, calendar, address book, notes) and everything synchronized.

If it is confirmed that it will be discontinued (or if it is already now) what is a better alternative to EAS for mobile synchronization iphone/ipad, android... with a quick configuration for mail, calendar, address book, notes?

I read in the guide that it is suggested to set IMAP + CalDAV + CarDAV, but this is very cumbersome and long,
is there really no standard method today (be it an App, Config, or other) to allow you to automatically configure an email account to use it on mobile (iphone/ipad, android) that includes everything (mail, calendar, address book and notes)?

Mark

My understanding is that the EAS deprecation applies specifically to the Windows Outlook client. This deprecation began with Outlook 2016, when they made it difficult to add EAS accounts. I haven't seen anything about them deprecating EAS on the server side.

Hello Andrew,
thanks for the reply,
so if I understood correctly the EAS protocol continues to be operational but only in the "mobile" area, right?

And for the moment there is no alternative in the email area to configure a "single account/configuration" that can have the function of mail, calendar, address book and notes on Apple and Android mobile?

Thanks
Good day

Mark

EAS is the de facto standard for mobile device syncing worldwide.
I think it is VERY hard to see it being discontinued...

BMark,

Yes, as I understand it, you are correct on both points.
