SmarterTrack Create a ticket Cc and Bcc fields limited to 256 characters
Problem reported by Eric G - 8/13/2024 at 7:49 AM

Contrary to what is indicated by an employee previously in a previous thread,

the CC and BCC fields seem to be limited to 256 characters. One of our clients reports that, as a result, they can only CC and BCC around 6-10 (depending on email address length) emails at a time. This means they have to send out the emails up to five times.

Is this expected functionality or a bug? I certainly wasn't able to find a setting to change this.

Hello Eric,

I have replicated this and will escalate this as a feature request. I believe this just ended up being an oversight as we have rarely seen the need to send emails to beyond a few recipients. How many recipients were you looking to add?

Thanks guys.

@Jereming, Potentially up to 40-50 email addresses, as per our client. We have managed to adapt the smartertrack system much beyond the scope of its intended purpose as a ticketing system, to work as a multi-inbox (around 60) property management system. I must say, it works quite well and the system has several unique features that can't be found in other solutions.

The client seems to be happy which is the main thing!

Glad to hear that they like it so much. I was testing with just over 500 characters of address and it was defiantly being truncated.

One way to work around the character limits might be using aliases or mailing list/distribution list functionality. Not sure how well that would fit into your current business process but might help simplify things :)
