External recipients being treated as local
Question asked by Dean Lawrence - 6/27/2024 at 8:27 AM
Unanswered
I have a problem where on of my domains has suddenly started treating external recipients as local. Because of this, all messages are being bounced with the error 550: No such user here. It is only with one of my domains that has been working for years. I've looked through all the settings and cannot find anything that looks out of place. Am I missing something? Does anyone have possible settings that I should look at? Thanks.

Hey Dean,

Thanks for reaching out with this problem. this certainly sounds strange. Can you please let me know what version you're running? Also, do you currently have an open ticket with support?

Thanks,

Thanks, Zach. I am running an older version 15.7. And no, I do not have an open support ticket.

It is so odd because it just came out of the blue. I've been hosting this domain for at least 10 years and have never had this issue.

Hey Dean,

That's very strange. It sounds like there's some kind of corruption or system issue somewhere. This shouldn't happen especially if you have made no changes.
I recommend opening a support ticket so our team can review your logs.

Kind Regards,

Dean,

Can you provide an example SMTP session?

I am guessing a damaged configuration file.   That's why a support ticket is optimal.   If that is not an option, then try changing the domain back to local temporarily before returning to the external setting.
