Request for Attachment Preview Feature
Question asked by Jhonatan de Melo - 6/6/2024 at 12:19 PM
Answered
Hi, good afternoon.
I would like some help. I need to preview the attachments, either directly through Webmail or by opening them in a new window in the browser. Is it possible?
Downloading locally the attachment to view it is not very convenient/productive.

Cordially,

I think it's a good idea, but on the other hand I wonder about the effects. With an image, you can either prepare a thumbnail preview as a small graphic, but this then has to be saved on the file system at the expense of my expensive memory or rendered/displayed at the time of display.

Hello, Roger, thank you very much for your response. Is it possible to make this type of configuration, or do we not have this option for SmarterMail yet? Our clients receive many .pdf, .word, and image files.

We have had this request before in the past, but as of right now I don't believe we have active plans to implement that functionality. In addition to file system and server resource usage concerns, there are security concerns with previewing attachment content that would need to be mitigated as well.
