Missing attach

A strange case happened to me

SmarterMail Enterprise 100.0.8860.24051 (Apr 4, 2024)

Reported via ticket 048-2DCE3476-0B06

Following a report from a user, I discovered that multiple messages received from the same sender with an attachment in the archive have the attachment, while the destination mailbox does not. Among other things, the destination box is used in pop so there is no possibility that imap could have modified the message.

Among other things, in the archive by previewing the message the attachment is not visible, but then by downloading the eml and opening the message it is there.

By copying to mailbox from the archive the attachment is there.

The assistance was able to replicate the problem, at least that in the archive in the preview you cannot see the attachments and you have to download the eml

But you understand that what worries me is not that, but understanding the reason why the message in the archive has the attachment while in the destination mailbox it does not.

There are no errors in the log related to this message. I don't know what the scope of the problem is, i.e. if it's an isolated case and/or more general, so it worries me.

Has something like this happened to anyone?

Sabatino Replied
I continued to investigate and I realized that in the archive the message is recorded without the X-SmarterMail-* values

A doubt arises in my mind. Is it possible that antivirus and antispam are not applied in the archive, and that some of these have removed the attachment?

Now I have another doubt regarding Microsoft Defender.
I recently added some disks and therefore some drive letters

Check that the exclusions are aligned
