JSON vs SBIN
Question asked by John Marx - 3/23/2024 at 3:32 PM

I liked the idea of JSON but understand it changed to SBIN for performance. JSON we could easily read. How can we read the SBIN?

The reason I want to do this is for the ability to edit, if needed, which we've done in the past wtih JSON. Do we now do it all with API or is there another way?

From what I see only some files have become sbin

All configuration files remained .json

Yes, some have but one I looked at was a sbin so having the ability to look at, possibly modify, etc. should still be allowed one way or another.

That's something I raised a few month ago. Having compact binary files is a good idea and is more efficient than plain json, but well without the ability to read/edit the content, when something went wrong, you have no other solution to fix an issue than delete the file, which is kinda problematic, depending what the file is used for.
