EAS Stop SYNC
Problem reported by Marcos Martin - 2/6/2024 at 4:33 AM
Known
Hello, since Friday, February 2nd, we have been receiving reports from an increasing number of customers that their email synchronization in Outlook has stopped working. It gets stuck in a loop waiting for the server, and all folders remain unupdated. Even creating a new profile in Outlook doesn't resolve the synchronization issue.
In the Smartermail log, the only thing I notice is numerous entries like: [2024.02.06] 11:58:52.757 [540249265] IN: FolderSync (13 bytes) ... but nothing more.

Quick update... it seems something related with an Outlook update.

Temporal fixed by rollback to Office version: 16.0.17126.20132

Use this

And create the file Config.xml with this

<Configuration>
<Updates Enabled="TRUE" TargetVersion="16.0.17126.20132" />
</Configuration>

Microsoft is phasing out support for EAS in Outlook quickly (along with various other features and workarounds we've used here in support for years) so I recommend getting moved over to MAPI as soon as possible. Microsoft has a habit of forcing these changes eventually so you don't want to be stuck when you can't downgrade!

Is the latest version of Smartermail also impacted by the same issue?

Microsoft implemented EAS into Outlook and realized it wouldn't work as a desktop protocol.  It is full of bugs and Microsoft discontinued support for EAS in Outlook.

Microsoft has tried to do everything to remove it from Outlook.  Any bugs or issues will not be resolved because Microsoft has decided its legacy.

Hello,

Instead of using EAS, it is recommended to use MAPI/EWS with Outlook desktop. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact our support department. You can do this by logging into your account at smartertools.com, then going to "My Tickets" and clicking on "New Ticket".

I hope this information helps.

Kind regards,

1. cd %programfiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun
2.   officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.17126.20132
