dnserrors
Question asked by Tan - 6/28/2023 at 10:58 PM
Answered
I need some help from the community. I have noticed that this specific file appears in Build 8566, and I have logged a case with Support. However, they mentioned that it is not their file, but I can see it on two of my SmarterMail hosts. The rest of the hosts are still not on Build 8566, so there are no such files. I suspect they accidentally enabled debugging while trying to solve the 'Efficiency: Various improvements to DNSClient' issue.

@tan, you can try to use the process monitor or handle tool from sysinternals to see which process is accessing this file. This should give you quick proof for your ticket.

@echoDreamz thanks

@Reto i think with echoDreamz will be sufficient to proof it already 😀

@Tan

Checked and Yes, this file is on both servers which has SM 8566 installed on. One server is only used as a MX Backup, so no other programs are running on that server, the file is still showing as we get emails which spool through from time to time.

I am seeing this file on one of our internal test servers, so this might be one of ours after all. I'm going to do some digging and I'll post back here as I find out more. I'll copy those findings to the ticket as well @Tan

I was able to confirm with development that this is in fact some debugging of ours and we're going to get it disabled in the next release.

Hello everyone! I'm just following up here to confirm we were able to get a release out late last week that resolves the dnserrors.txt debug logging concerns from above. Thanks for getting this reported!

The file is no longer getting larger or updating since installing the newer build.

Thank you.
