Automatic Email Retrieval from MS Exchange not working properly: it resync the entire account multiple time filling up the Hard Disk with duplicates
Problem reported by Gabriele Maoret - SERSIS - 2/25/2023 at 3:43 PM
Resolved
SmarterMail BETA 8454

The automatic Email Retrieval from MS Exchange doesn't work properly: it re-syncs the entire account multiple times filling up the Hard Disk with duplicates...

Basically, it restarts syncing all the items again and again and again, making multiple copies of each email, filling the account with many duplicates (and filling up the HDD...)

In a few hours my account (12GB on MS Exchange) was copied many times and each mail now has multiple copies, so now my test account in SmarterMail is over 65GB...

I stop testing it until this issue is fixed with a fix in a new build

UPDATE: It seems to me that it's not the entire remote MS Exchange account that is uniformly replicated multiple times during the fetch...

Checking better I saw that some emails are duplicated only 2-3 times, other emails appear in 5-6 (or more) copies, finally some have only one copy...

At the moment I can't say if there is a specific reason for these different behaviors or if it is completely random.

UPDATE: Kyle told me that the support team was able to reproduce this issue in their internal testing, so they now know this is a SmarterMail BUG and are actively trying to fix it.

Good job to them!

We await further news on this
