Smartermail is not accepting UTF8

Hello. I had an error that Smartermail (latest version) is not accepting SMTPUTF8 and so the mail was bounced. I use Proxmox Mail Gateway as incoming gateway. Then the mails are being delivered to the corresponding server. PMG receives the mail, but cannot deliver it to smartermail 8251.

Is smartermail able to receive SMTPUTF8 Messages? Can i enable/disable this?

Hey Rudolf,

Thanks for reaching out regarding this question. I am not that familiar with postfix but it appears that you can disable the SMTPUTF8 encoding or set it to autodetect.

Hello Zach,

thank you for the answer. i already disabled UTF8 in postfix. i would like to know if smartermail is able to work with utf8 or if it is planned for future versions.

Hey Rudolf,

Thanks for the question. Currently, we do not support SMTPUTF8 as that would also require supporting internationalized email addresses. We do have a task to get this feature added to SmarterMail in our backlog but I do not have a timeframe for when this will be supported.
