Having the ability to create Public Folders of type MAIL - exactly like in MS Exchange
Idea shared by Gabriele Maoret - SERSIS - 1/13/2023 at 1:45 AM
In Progress
In the new SmarterMail BETA it is possible to have Public Folders, a bit like the Public Folders of MS Exchange.

This is a great addition, as it gets ever closer in functionality to having a complete match with MS Exchange.

Unfortunately, as can be seen from the image below, there is no possibility of having Public Folders of the MAIL type, as is possible in MS Exchange.

Is it possible to add this functionality?

Yes, this would be a nice collaboration feature for SMBs to save emails in a shared folder.

I believe this was noted previously, so I'll check in with Product Management to confirm if this is on our list.

This is one of the missing features of SmarterMail vs MS Exchange that some of my customers are complaining about…

I think it's not that difficult to implement (since it's already been done for Calendars, Notes, Contacts and Tasks...)...

Is it possible to know if you are at least analyzing it?

It will be a short while before released.  We are working on many concurrent projects and releases while prioritizing some fixes for customers.  We have very few known issues and will be moving to releases with more incremental features.

This has been delayed, but for good reason.

While we have been releasing minors with bug fixes and features we've had a majority of our team on converting SmarterMail to .NET Core.  We now have a .NET Core version of SmarterMail that we are testing with a few customers and the results are absolutely amazing from a CPU, Memory, and Speed standpoint.

So many things will be easier to implement on the Core version, and it means Linux is right around the corner as well.  I apologize for not updating this thread sooner.

Hello Tim

Thanks a lot for the update. It sounds very promising and interesting. Especially with regards to performance and Linux compatibility in the future.

Can you also let us know how it looks like with the long awaited compatibility of the email public folder feature?

Thanks and greetings
