Built-in SpamAssassin vs. SA In A Box

Smartermail includes SpamAssassin on some level.  We're trying to figure out whether this is a complete implementation built-in, or is this just using some of the SA components making it more like "SpamAssassin Lite".

How does the built-in compare to SpamAssassin In a Box?

We are currently using Sniffer, Declude, and the SM built-in stuff, and it's just not quite reliable enough.  Need another layer to improve accuracy, but if the built-in SA is the real deal, then what would be the point of buying SA In a Box?

The built in "SpamAssassin-Based Pattern Matching" is based off of SpamAssassin and specific patterns that we put in. 


SmarterMail includes a proprietary pattern matching engine built upon the SpamAssassin technology as part of the default installation of the product. It includes a number of spam detection techniques, including DNS-based and fuzzy-checksum-based spam detection, Bayesian filtering and more.
This particular check is going to be reviewed. 

Setting up your own SpamAssassin server will have the full capabilities and allow for customization on your part.
