How are people implementing 2FA

Guys,

I have been getting more and more requests for 2FA and I feel like this is a weak part in SmarterMail.  I need the ability for 2FA to use text messaging.  Its just not possible for me to force people to use an authentication app.  Is there some way to implement this or is it coming in the next versions?  Im being pushed to convert to gmail constantly from clients and this one may be the nail in the coffin.

Marc

Hey Marc,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. Using text messaging with 2FA is not secure and is not recommended. Please see this article for how this has been exploited. https://www.cnet.com/news/privacy/do-you-use-sms-for-two-factor-authentication-heres-why-you-shouldnt/

But if you have to do this you can do it the following way. Set the Verification Method to Recovery Email Address

Then you can send it to the phone by doing like

Here is a list and instructions on how to send an email to a phone as a text message.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

So there is no roadmap to support using 2fa via text messaging?
