Emails from Blocked Sender continue to be delivered to my inbox
Problem reported by Jeremy Wesley - 5/23/2022 at 1:58 PM
Submitted
I have blocked a sender by right clicking on the email, and selecting block sender. The selected email disappears.. a short period later( day or two) the sender sends another "Buy my list" email, and its in my inbox. The message even states next to the from "Blocked Sender". I would expect not to see any more emails from the blocked senders... I looked and I could not find a list of them to create a rule to send all Blocked Senders emails to the trash or junk...

So what exactly is SmarterMail Blocking... its still delivering the emails to my inbox.

Hi Jeremy! Check the header of the email for the SM message ID then search your Delivery log. You may have some kind of rule moving messages from the blocked sender to your inbox instead of the junk folder where they belong.

How can I create a rule "Where Contact is blocked" You seemed to imply that was a reality. How?

You can create SM content filtering rules at the domain and user level.

According to your delivery log, it looks like it was simply delivered to your inbox. There were no rules triggered that I can see and I don;t see anything stating this was blocked sender

And you said that this email actually showed "Blocked Sender" in your webmail account?

If that is the case, you may want to open a ticket with SmarterTools in case this is a bug of some kind.

It looks like this message came in via an SMTP Auth Bypass, and so that server may have other whitelistings in place allowing this through as well. I definitely recommend getting a ticket submitted so we can take a closer look for you. Thanks Linda!

Thanks Kyle. It looks to me like there are 2 message in the log snip that Jeremy posted. I was looking at the first message (68404430). I think that was the one he was asking about, but now I'm not sure :)
