Mailbox locked up...end session not working
Problem reported by Jim Vaden - 12/2/2014 at 9:46 AM

I'm an admin and ironically my mailbox has frozen up this morning.  I was using IMAP via Outlook when it happened, but nonetheless it won't even open in a browser now either.  Outlook shows my inbox with lines through the two emails I was trying to delete two hours ago.  If I try to logon to webmail it attempts to open, showing the folders to the left, but the inbox stays empty showing one unread message to the left.  There are several messages showing in the queue and most if not all are mine.

We have tried ending session for my online user, but the last one will not end no matter what we do.  I now show two new anonymous activity from my IP as well that weren't there either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jim,
This one sounds like you might need to open up a support ticket.

I indeed had to open a support ticket yesterday.
As it turns out the mailbox was locked and the only way to unlock was to stop the service, delete the indexing files under the user\index folder and also change the enableIndexing to FALSE in the user's config xml file.

This worked for me as well, except I did not need to switch off enableIndexing in the config.xml file.

Thank you, Jim!

Hello there,

I just noticed the same error message in the logs. The client's inbox was unresponsive not only by IMAP but when I tried to impersonate her, Smartermail's interface would just hang up trying to load the inbox's content. I tried restoring the account's inbox folder using the restore function and it did the trick. From what I can see in the logs, it just unlocked the account. I would really like to know what caused this though. I know this particular client often calls me because he gets IMAP (DOS) blocked. Maybe this is related???
