Spanish language ('español') 4 times repeated and angular-locale_ES-BAD.js
Problem reported by Gonzalo Varela Rua - 9/13/2021 at 10:02 AM
Resolved
In language selector I have 'Spanish language' ('español') 4 times repeated.
In webmail ('Spanish language') I have the following error in JavaScript Console:
GET https://SERVER/interface/output/angular-i18n/angular-locale_es-bad.js net::ERR_ABORTED 404 (Not Found)
Possibly unhandled rejection: ES-BAD

any ideas?
Thanks,
Gonzalo.

Hello Gonzalo,

Thanks for posting on the community. I tried to replicate this issue on the newest version of SmarterMail and I couldn't get the same issue to occur. What version of SmarterMail are you running?

Hello Zach,

Currently it is version 7901, but I do not know from which version, nor for how long has the problem occurred, perhaps months or even years. For a long time I have seen, in the language selector, ‘español’ (spanish) repeated 4 times, but I did not give it importance because everything worked well or seemed so. Recently, a client told me that the calendar views were not working in webmail, I verified that they were failing in Spanish, but they were working in English. Looking for an explanation, I found the JavaScript error (404) in the browser console:
https: //SERVER/interface/output/angular-i18n/angular-locale_es-bad.js
But I don't know if that error is related to the repetition of the ‘Spanish’ text in the language selector, or if it is related to the failure in the calendar views. That JavaScript error also comes up in other webmail views which are nevertheless working correctly (apparently).
If it is not possible to find the cause, it would be enough for me to know how to restart the translation installation.

Thanks,
Gonzalo.

I think I found the cause.
In \MRS\App_Data\Translations I have these files:

es.json
es.xml
es-16.1.6425.json
es-16.2.6442.json
es-bad.json

Hello,

Thanks for getting back to me. I would recommend stopping the service and removing
  • es.xml
  • es-16.1.6425.json
  • es-16.2.6442.json
  • es-bad.json
es.json  is the only one that should be there.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Yes, deleting those files solved both errors. The selector no longer shows 4 times 'Spanish' and the calendar views already work. Previously I had to use a editor (notepad++) to do a bulk replacement in the settings.json files that had a wrong language selector.
The incident is resolved and can be closed.
Thank you.
