Hello Ellie! I'd be happy to give you some guidance on this. First, you'll want to get SmarterStats installed to a Windows Server environment that supports IIS web server components per this documentation here: 

Once you have it installed, you'll then want to log on to SmarterStats and add your first site. Within that site settings you will be prompted for the log file location, so you'll want to have these details handy when you get started. The raw log files should be your IIS or Apache web server logs, and should be stored somewhere SmarterStats can access them.
