Sent Items & Sent Messages Folders Combined
Question asked by Bob Bell - 6/4/2021 at 7:27 PM

I think something changed in a recent update of SmarterMail.
  1. When I sent a message from Webmail or Outlook, the sent message would show up in a folder called "Sent Items" on the server.
  2. When I sent a message from my iPhone, the sent message would show up in a folder called "Sent Messages" on the server.
And I was OK with that.
But now... ALL sent emails (from all devices) end up in the same folder on the server called "Sent Items".
Cool, perhaps that is a more organized solution. I kinda like it, but my clients are NOT happy.

My problem is my clients were not notified of the change and they've been using my email service for a dozen years. All of a sudden they can't find their "sent" emails - because they are not in the same folder they used to be. (Anal?... maybe. Old School?... probably. Adverse to change?... definitely!)

HOW TO FIX IT? This looked promising...
There's a feature on the iPhone under Settings/Mail/Accounts/Advanced where you can pick which folder to save your "sent items" however it does NOT seem to save your changes. It always reverts to "Sent Items". MF

I am trying to help my angry clients revert back to the old method of saving their iPhone "sent messages" in a folder on the server called "Sent Messages" like it used to be, but I can't figure out how to accomplish that.

Any thoughts?

Hey there Bob, I'm sorry to hear your users are having issues with this. I don't personally use IMAP on my iOS device so I'm not sure how this was handled in the past, unfortunately.

I did set up a quick IMAP test on my device though and found I too see the Sent Items selection reverting back to the original selection. Can I have you submit a ticket on this one so we can dig into it further together?
