VMware network setup

Hi,

I have recently put SM onto a VM (VMware) and I'm having a problem because it's sending email using the internal IP address which is resulting in +/- 15% of emails being getting bounced because it doesn't use the public IP address for the mail server.

My question is how did you over come this as SM can only use addresses on the server and mine is behind a NAT.

Thanks
Terry.

Oh, I should add that it can't use the public IP because SM doesn't see it so it fails and falls back to the internal IP.

This is a firewall issue.  You need a static NAT rule to map the public IP to the SmarterMail address for both inbound and outbound port 25.  You may want to include additional ports, depending what services should be internet accessible.
