Windows Defender Checks error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Problem reported by Heimir Eidskrem - 5/19/2021 at 12:26 PM
Resolved
We seeing this in our mail logs now.
Windows defender is not used on the mail server, not even installed I think.

Only ClamAV is checked.

What do I need to do to fix that?

We'll be releasing a minor soon that will fix this and other reported issues relating to Defender and domains failing to load. This error is printed because it's attempting to run the Defender checks (enabled in Antivirus) but it's not running on the machine. For now I'd recommend you not take any actions and wait for our update coming soon. The error being reported above does not negatively impact the delivery being made and the other virus checks will continue to check as normal.
