What is correct setting on main email "receiving" server - from inbound gateway?

So we have...
mx1 (Sm17x, with declude) ---> main email server.(Sm17x)
mx2(Sm17x, with declude) ---> main email server(Sm17x)
when it gets to  "main" email server.. is totally ignoring spam scores set by mx1 and mx2, but instead looking at the source of the sending IP address....

This seems to have been working fine up until last week.
But now, I am questioning the settings that should be in the main email server for the inbound gateways

Hello Merle! It sounds like you may have a whitelist or spam bypass for the IP of your incoming gateways. Can you post a redacted screenshot of these entries?

so MX1 and MX4 are the primary "inbound" email servers passing email to the main server.
MX2 - is emer use only.. (and it, itself.. is offline unless needed).

It is MX4 that seems to have its spam ratings ignored.
