What Smarter Mail do in Maintenance?

I have observe some email removed from one of mailbox and I suspect SM maintenance.. so my question is what SM do in maintenance? Does it remove emails?

That depends on your settings.
Look under server settings/general for folder auto clean.
Domain settings and user settings too.

The only maintenance SmarterMail will perform automatically on mail data is via Folder Autoclean which you can find more details on here: https://help.smartertools.com/SmarterMail/current/Topics/User/Settings/MySettings/Filtering/MyFolderAutoClean.aspx
