How to limit age of tickets shown to registered users

Is there a way to not show tickets older than a certain date (or age) to registered users but retain them for agent use? 
Alternatively, but less desirable, is there a way to block all registered user view of tickets while leaving the port open for chat?

I figured this out at least to shut all tickets off to all roles less than Agent and leave Chat working. Under Brands/Portal Options uncheck Enable Login form and uncheck Enable new user registration and under Permissions change View Ticket Requires to Agent.
