Treat Smartermail Contacts as Trusted Senders
Idea shared by Scarab - 12/1/2014 at 2:59 PM
Completed
I guess I had been working all these years under the assumption that Contacts are treated by Smartermail as Trusted Senders and just now came to the realization that they are in fact not (and probably never were). A customer wanted me to explain to them why they had to import their Contacts twice, once as Contacts and a second time as Trusted Senders. I didn't really have a good explanation for them as I have to agree that doing such is tediously redundant, especially considering Contacts can be automatically synchronized with email clients where as Trusted Senders cannot.

Would it be possible, in a future version of Smartermail, to treat Smartermail Contacts as Trusted Senders?

Anything is possible, Scarab :)

I had this request added to our discussion list. By default, contacts are NOT added to trusted senders because not everyone someone adds as a contact is, necessarily, a trusted sender. However, we may consider adding an option in a future release.

Seems this could be an option toggled on or off by the system or domain administrator.

That will be very good.

CharlesWorks, thanks for raising awareness of this issue which has been on the list for a long time...  Why would you not trust someone in your Contact List?

It's time to get rid of Trusted Senders. See all the reasons in this follow-up thread:
(it's on the top 10 list for most votes)

Or at least a SPAM score value adjustment.

It's going on 2 Years of being "Under Consideration". It would be nice to get a answer.

Thank you for your feedback! In SmarterMail 16, which is currently in BETA, contacts will be considered Trusted Senders by default. A message will appear in the Trusted Senders section in order to notify users of this change.
