MAPI and EAS do not stay in Sync
Question asked by Tim DeMeza - 8/5/2020 at 2:43 PM
Unanswered
I am on version 7503, I have been fighting with Sync issues for months.
I am curious if anyone else is having these issues.

I can delete files on my phone and they remain on MAPI in Outlook and I can delete in Outlook and they remain on my phone on EAS.  This just does not seem right.  Any ideas or thoughts are appreciated.

Thank you!

Tim, please open a ticket.  We are not aware of any issues and would want to look at your server / mailbox and verify why that could be happening.

I had the same (or a similar) problem with two MAPI + EAS users, who have been MAPI users since the first or second production MAPI build and EAS users since somewhere in 16.3. I had them delete and re-add their account on their phones about a month or so ago (while we were running the newest SmarterMail build at the time, in case that matters).

That seemed to resolve the problem, although it might be too early to tell if it's permanently resolved yet (looking good so far though).

Two MAPI clients on the same account is an issue.  One does affect another.  That is a known issue and is a task being worked on by the team now.  We were able to replicate internally.  That has nothing to do with EAS.

Oh, that's good to know, thanks--one of the two users in my previous reply does use MAPI from two different computers (in addition to EAS on his phone) on the same account, and he sometimes leaves Outlook open on both computers at the same time, so I'll watch out for related problems in the meantime.

I think I have a similar problem. I have Outlook 2016, using MAPI and an Android phone using EAS. If I update a contact on Outlook (MAPI), the Outlook status bar just keeps flashing back and forth "Updateing user@domain.ca Updating This Folder Connected to Microsoft Exchange". Once I saw this post, I disconnected other clients and shut down the phone and Outlook. I then started Outlook again, and it did finally sync the contact, as it showed up in the web interface. Both Outlook and the phone were added way after going to 7503.

I'm new to MAPI but have already had to delete .ost file and resync two of my newest users because it stopped syncing new items in their Inbox.
