Reprocessing email in SM
Question asked by Ben Conner - 6/27/2020 at 3:38 PM

Hi,

If I have a stranded .eml file I need to reprocess, is there a folder I can drop that in to and have SM route it properly?  Do I need to do anything to kick it off?

Thanks!

Hi Ben. Do you have the corresponding .hdr file? If yes, you should be able to put the pair in the Spool and SM will reprocess it.

Oops.  No, i don't.  Just the .eml file.   Where would the .hdr file be kept?
Here's what I'm doing.  I've re-purposed the command-line AV functionality to look for spam patterns I've seen.  Wrote a routine in Powerbasic that takes the path to the .eml file that SM hands it and reads the first 75 lines or so.  It makes a decision as to whether it is spam or not.

Does a god job but it isn't perfect.  So when it isn't I need a way to quietly say 'oops' and drop it in the inbound queue again. :)

I don't think the .hdr file is saved though.  ??

AFAIK the hdr file resides in the spool dir along with the related eml file.

Ben if you cannot find the corresponding .hdr file, you can actually create one. Look at another .hdr file for reference on which info it needs to contain.
