EAS/MAPI: items i delete still show unread on IMAP/Webmail

HI

when I use EAS or MAPI in outlook if i delete an item from inbox and then later (or even the next day) go to webmail the item is still unread and not deleted.

This is something I have found for years and one reason i stopped using EAS, I tried using MAPI on the new version and same results so switch both home office and main office computer back to IMAP.

What would cause this? its a pain as i use IMAP on my phone and in the evening if i check my email i have tons of new unread items that I know i've deleted already during the day on my office or home office computer?

I've never had this complaint from any of my customers who use EAS though so I'm wondering if its some rogue config on my own domain name thats existed in Smartermail since version 1 (back in windows 2003 days), we've used every single version of SM since it first came out and wondering if that's the cause.

EAS is mobile protocol which does not send or receive updates on read/unread until deletes or new emails are received by the mailbox to optimize cell connections.  This is how the protocol design by Microsoft.  The MAPI protocol does allow for status to be updated as it occurs.

Tim, I don't agree with you.

If I use an Exchange Server or other Mail Server softwares that support EAS (I have experience of a few, like MailEnable, mDaemon and Kerio), if I delete a mail in my smartphone with EAS, it is suddenly (within few minutes at least) deleted in the server too, ad so in IMAP and WebMail (assuming of course that the smartphone has active Internet connectivity).

If it does not work like that it seems to me a bug (or at least a malfunction in the specific installation)

I misread and thought you were talking about status (read/unread).

With 250k users on the new release, we have no reports of EAS or MAPI not deleting messages on the server and those are VERY different protocols and code bases with no commonality between them.  I manage most of my emails via EAS on a couple mobile devices and all is working as expected.

I would open a ticket and we can look at your server.

Same here, no issues with MAPI/EAS deleting emails. Webmail shows the same as EAS/MAPI clients.
